What is netcup Labs?

In the netcup Development Lab (netcup Labs for short), we test new products. Upcoming changes to our production environments are also initially tested in netcup Labs before being implemented across all systems to optimize quality. To create the most realistic testing conditions possible, we offer products to interested customers for testing through this page.

The tests are usually free or require only a very small fee and run over a longer period or even permanently, depending on the product being tested. Among other things, we provide free vServers and significantly discounted web hosting products through netcup Labs. In return, we expect the free products to be actively used and for us to receive regular feedback, which we use exclusively to improve quality.

We strive to minimize the unavailability of test products in the testing environment. However, since errors can occur during testing, we cannot guarantee minimum availability for the test products. If you are interested in error-free, stable systems, we recommend our regular products.

Free vServers

We offer vServers based on KVM technology. The management of the vServers is done through our own control panel, the netcup SCP. Every development and optimization is tested in netcup Labs before release. For this purpose, we provide free vServers to volunteer testers.

The free vServers include the following basic features:

Additional features may be provided as needed.

We provide free vServers from our test environment. In return, we expect continuous use of the vServer as well as regular feedback on your experience with the test product.

We will review your application after submission. In our selection process, we focus on ensuring that our test environment is as realistically utilized as possible. Please understand that we may not be able to consider every application.

Web hosting with 90% discount

We offer you permanently almost free and 100% ad-free web hosting with genuine .de domains!

To obtain optimal benchmarks for our new web hosting nodes (servers) and to test updates as well as new features, we provide heavily discounted (and, of course, completely ad-free) web hosting accounts as part of ncLabs. These accounts are based on our regular web hosting plans, with the exception that they cost only 10% of the regular price and do not include guaranteed minimum availability.

Rules and Conditions:

The following rules and conditions apply to the discounted web hosting provided by ncLabs:

It is understood that domains registered within netcup Labs are actively used. Please only register domains if you can achieve the expected number of visitors.
No purely static data. We expect scripts such as PHP, NodeJS, or Ruby to be utilized.
No file hosting.
Feedback via the customer forum is encouraged.
No guaranteed minimum availability.
The contract can be terminated by either party at any time with a 31-day notice period. Any basic fees paid in advance will be refunded by netcup in such cases.
No entitlement to free support.

If no public content is accessible on the booked web hosting account or the average number of visitors falls below 20 per day for more than 7 days, netcup may terminate the contract with a 31-day notice. This provides sufficient time to migrate the ncLabs hosting plan to a regular plan or switch to another provider.

Please note that even for free services, a service contract is established between you and netcup GmbH. All incoming orders are therefore checked and verified for the validity of the provided information. Any use for illegal purposes is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, the terms and conditions valid at the time of the order apply, which you must also agree to during the ordering process.
